Resources

Below are some valuable resources that will help you learn very important lessons to aide in your much needed education to weather the storms while day trading in the stock market. Day Trading can be very lucrative, but you can also lose money if you are not properly educated.

I have used all these tools and still do in my current day trading career.

Finviz

Finviz is great for scanning stocks the night before. I do not use it for intraday as I have scanners to to that, but you have access to very valuable information here on Finviz. It is free to use which is great. You can subscribe to Elite service which gives you some extra tools.

Stock Charts

Stockcharts is another free website where you can use free charts and also scan. I really like this website for learning Technical Analysis and Charting. The information here is beyond helpful for not only the beginner but also someone looking for quick access to information on Charting and Technical Analysis.

Trade Ideas

Trade Ideas is a scanning tool that you can use to get ideas for throughout the day. If you are looking fro Pre-Market Movers, High Volume movers or even Social Media mentions, this tool has it all. It is very robust and will give you more trades than you can handle. It is a great tool to have handy when the market is dead and your watch list is not producing any trades.

Stock Horizon

Stock Horizon is an automated tool that scans stocks in pre-market and through very specific coding looks for large range to bring stock plays. This is a great tool to use after you have become profitable. You will be able to analyze why there software made it entries and learn on your own.

Steve Nison Candle Sticks

This is by far one of the most helpful resources out there. Learning Candlesticks really opened my eyes to a lot of things I was totally unaware of. Learning Candlesticks helped me with better entries and exits on my trades. It also trained me to avoid getting into trades that I would normally get into and would alert of of trades to get into that I would have had no clue of entering. I would usually chase the trade way to late as other profitable traders were exiting their trades.

Stock Market Watch

For those do not have scanners, this is a free website where you can see what stocks are up and down during the pre market open to the stock market. You can also view what is up or down after hours as well.

Zacks Earning Reports

I use Zacks for my Earnings Reports. I do not need all the detailed information. I just want to know if the company beat or missed their Earnings and/or Sales forcast in an easy to read format.

Prodigio

Prodigio is a online trading platform that you can Paper Trade on (Simulator) without risking real money. You can also Paper Trade on Think or Swim, but the quotes are delayed. Prodigio is real time. They offer a 30 day free trial and I believe $90 a month after that. If it takes you 6 months to learn on a simulator, that $600 is a lot cheaper than what you would have lost in the stock market. I look at it as the cost of education. I wish I would have done this prior to losing $16k. I ended up doing this after the fact and it was a huge help learning here.

Tradervue

Another tool in the education chest is tracking and learning from your trades. Here you have a diary that you can learn from. No more excel spreadsheets that do not give you all the information you really need. Using Tradervue gives you all kinds of reports and analytics for you to analyze. You can import from almost every trading platform out there. They offer a free account but it is limited to a certain amount of trades with limited analytics, but still very helpful. I pay the $29 a month for more tools which was very helpful to me.
