Education

One of the keys to successful longterm day trading is education. A lot of newbee traders are very impatient and want to jump in thinking they can do it. That is nothing more than gambling. Take it from me, I had to learn the hard way and it cost me more than 16K in losses. I remember seeing all the offers out there to educate me. I recall seeing countless websites warning new traders to educate yourself and paper trade. I obviously did not listen. Had I heeded the advice of successful teachers, I would have done as they had instructed. In the end, I had to pay for the education anyways. Please "DO NOT TRADE" without educating yourself and practicing on a simulator paper trading.

Below is where I learned much of what I know today. I have applied a little knowledge from each one below to create my own niche and style in day trading. Learning will always be a constant evolution. You have to be teachable, period!  Always willing to learn and acknowledge that you do not know everything is a huge asset. If you choose to ignore this with all of your arrogance, you will be humbled by the market and other professional traders who will be happy to take your lunch.

"Education is expensive, but ignorance is a lot more expensive." Once you blow up your account without education, you will regret not heeding the advice of those before you. I know I did regret this as this is the main purpose of this blog.

Remember that everyone's personality is different. This means that one of the below styles might not be compatible to your personality. I do firmly believe that each and everyone here below have something in their education to offer to every trader out there. Just like any service or Guru, it is not advisable to try and mimic their trades as you will be getting into the trade for all the wrong reasons.

Investors Underground

Textbook Trading DVD (October 2013)
Tandem Trader DVD (November 2014)

Nathan Michaud is one of the more successful Day Traders out there and has a great chatroom full of highly profitable traders that I have ever been a part of. You are really in the mix with the Heavy Hitters of the industry.  Investors Live released the "Textbook Trading" DVD back in October of 2013 and it has been the #1 Day Trading DVD on Investimonials since its release. If that does not tell you how good this DVD is, then I do not know what else to tell you. This DVD gives you more than just the foundation of Day Trading to get you started. You will not only learn the foundations of successful day trading, but also the intermediate and professional tools as well.

Once you have mastered Textbook Trading, you will be able to build upon that with the new DVD "Tandem Trader". It was just released in November of 2014. This DVD takes off where the last one left off. You get to see live trades captured on video with a thorough explanation of what is going on in the head of one of the most successful day traders out there.

Bulls On Wall Street

Kunal over at Bulls On Wall Street has been a valuable resource in my initial development as a beginning Day Trader. I took the Bootcamp class and seeing an immediate difference in my trading. His teaching technique is very easy to understand which was very helpful. The Handbook is great to go back to as well as the lifetime access to all the trading videos and market recaps from all the other Boot Camp classes. Once you have grabbed a better concept of trading, only then do I recommend that you slowly venture into much more advanced trading education like Investors Underground above.

Learning Candlesticks really opened my eyes to a lot of things I was totally unaware of before trading. It is not the holy grail, but instead a component in your toolbox of weapons. Learning Candlesticks helped me with better entries and exits on my trades. It also trained me to avoid getting into trades that I would normally get into and would alert of of trades to get into that I would have had no clue of entering. I would usually chase the trade way to late as other profitable traders were exiting their trades selling into strength.

Below are some helpful Blogs and Twitter feeds  who have been there and done that when it comes to day trading. These guys are heavy hitters who have given back with some sound advice for anyone looking to get into the ring with other day traders. Some of these guys are up and coming and have some great experiences to share.

In my humble opinion there are important things to learn as a day trader. In no particular order they are:

1) Chart Patterns
2) Candle Sticks
3) Tape Reading
4) Psychological and Emotional

If you can combine the knowledge from the first three that best suits your personality and niche, that will be a huge asset. One very important asset that is overlooked is the mind and how it can make or break you. It would be best to not make this mistake of understanding your mind while learning to trade.

This first book here is for the beginner and is actually a very great book to start with as it is super easy to understand and straight to the point with out all the hoopla. All the other books are very helpful as well.
